Everybody should have their own “DOMAIN NAME”. For about $10 a year, it’s worth every penny. We recommend one for each of your sites, example one for Shop.com, one for your Motives mini site and one for your Isotonix mini site and then simply have it forwarded to your website, also make sure to use your DOMAIN NAME when you are designing your business cards, flyers, etc.
Here Are A Few Tips:
1. Do not use any trademarked names such as Motives, Isotonix, OPC-3, etc…
2. Definitely .com over .net
3. Nothing with a – (DASH). Most people do not use dashes.
4. Here’s an advertising TIP, always capitalize the first letter on each word so it makes it more legible.
There are a lot of domain name registration providers, we prefer to use GoDaddy. We feel this is a very small investment into your business.
So if you don’t already have a domain name simply use GoDaddy to search for it, once you find one that’s available simply purchase it and create an account. Here is the link http://www.godaddy.com or you can also search for them in your partner store section on shop.com.
Once you purchase the domain name you will want to forward that to your website.
Here are the instructions.
1. Sign in on the top right.
2. On the next page you will see “My Account”.
3. Under products you will see a “Domains” on the left and a green “LAUNCH” button on the right.
4. Click on LAUNCH.
5. A new page will open, with all your domain name, just click on your domain name you want to forward.
6. When the page loads, you will see the “Domain Details” section of that particular domain name.
7. Scroll down a little bit and you will see “Forwarding”, Domain: Off and below it you will see “Manage”.
8. Click on “Manage”and a new pop up window will open, click on “Add Forwarding”
9. In the box, type in your website completely including your web portal name and then hit “ADD” and “SAVE”.
10. You will see a message letting you know that it’s complete and that it will take 1-2 hours for it to take effect.
That’s it, hope this helps.
One tip: Leave out the http:// when adding your website in the box.
Shop.com Example: Just add www.shop.com/net2malls/ replacing ‘NET2MALLS” with your web portal name.
Motives Example: Just add www.motivescosmetics.com/net2malls/ replacing ‘NET2MALLS” with your web portal name
